Gun Control?

There are three types of people who want to own guns.  Those who want a gun for sporting pusposes.  Those who want a weapon for self defense. And those who want to possess a gun to rob, or harm other people.  Any nation can pass any law it wishes to in an effort to control ownership of guns and those who want one for sporting will happily comply, while those who want one for self-defense will often break the law by acquring outlawed guns illegally, and those who want one to rob or harm others buy a gun outside the law or steal one..

In my view such laws make criminals out of otherwise good citizens who want weapons for self-defense,  while not affecting the sporting crowd in any meaningful way ,,, so why not put our focus on catching and prosecuting criminals and leave the good citizens free to excercise their own judgement relative to guns or weapons?

The point is that due to the influx of drugs from places like South America, US citizens are dieing by the tens of thousands every year and robbery and home invasions are increasing while citizens are being kept from legally owning capable firearms to defend their households. In many instances the time of response when a citizen calls the 911 emergency assistance number is far to long to help those in need of defending their home and family from thugs.
